Muswell Hill Sustainability Group was set up in 2008 to reduce carbon emissions and waste in Muswell Hill and surrounding areas. In 2009 we successfully bid (with Haringey Council) for funding from DECC and from the Mayor of London. Muswell Hill is now one of ten Low Carbon Zones in London and we’ve used some of the DECC funding to put solar panels on the roof of Marks and Spencers on the Broadway and on the roof of the Methodist Church off Colney Hatch Lane.
We have supported the Highgate initiative since 2012, and we have held two 21st Century Homes: character – comfort – low carbon events so far, both very successful. The first was held in Muswell Hill in 2013, and the second in March 2014 for Hornsey and Crouch End.
